We finally have a home!
It’s finally happening! After months of hard work and community hope, our Whitianga-based charity has secured a site to begin rescuing reusable resources from heading to the tip. We know many of you have been waiting – and wondering – and we’re excited to say that as of Friday 1st August: we have a home, and we’re ready to make a difference!
Our new home at 239 South Highway West, Whitianga.
It’s a big step forward in our mission to reduce waste, support sustainability, and create opportunities for reuse.
We now have our very own truck, making it easier than ever for the community to get involved. Whether you have a few items tucked away in the garage or an entire house load to clear, we can collect directly from you. You can also drop items to us at our site – just get in touch first to arrange a time. Please note that some items, such as e-waste, do incur recycling charges which we must pass on at cost.
All rescued goods will be sold online only through our new store, with collection from our Whitianga site. While there’s no shop to browse, our online platform makes it easy to find something special, all while supporting waste reduction.
If you have items too good to waste – or would like to book a collection – get in touch. Together, we can keep valuable resources in use and create a waste-free future for Mercury Bay.
We’re doing a soft launch right now – setting up the site, getting systems in place, and preparing to receive items soon. So, soon we will have more details on opening hours and what items we can take. But what we really need at this stage is volunteers.
Whether you’re handy with tools, great with people, or just keen to help out, we’d love to hear from you. Volunteers are the heart of this project, and there’s a role for everyone.
